In the game park in the proximity of the hotel Boboty they keep a group of wild boars. To get to the boars closely just follow the path leading right to them. The hotel is not far from Štefanová. Turn left to the main road to Vrátna towards Štefanová and then follow the signposted trail.
The area of Terchová provides many opportunities for white water rafting either down the river Váh or Orava. The rafting route leads between Lipovec and Strečno past the Old and New Strečno castle and the famous rocks called Margita and Besná. The stretch is 14 km long and takes about 1.5 hours. Small inflatable dinghies are used for rafting. It is more suited for physically fit people. It is not suitable for small children. There are two rafting routes available on the river Orava. The first goes from Žaškov to Kraľovany it is 9 km long and takes about 1.5 hours and then there is the second one from Dolný Kubín to Kraľovany, which is 18 km long and takes approx. 2.5 hours. Small inflatable dinghies are used for rafting. This route is suitable for adults as well as children.
Scooters are a relatively new, entertaining and easy-to-ride means of transportation for all ages. They are ideal for recreational travels, but fans of extreme sports will find them equally fun. Our scooters are specially modified, with reinforced frames and which wheels are well adapted to be able to withstand crooked mountainous terrain; moreover the special brakes allow for moving at walking speed when needed, but also much faster - the speed is down to the rider. All in all, it is not a difficult kind of sport, but fast enough to raise your adrenaline levels and when in the finish you will realize that one ride was never going to be enough. If you feel like it, use your imagination and skills and try couple of tricks, too.
Terchová, Štefanová and the Vrátna Valley, the jewels of the Malá Fatra, attract many tourists. Apart from an active hike you can savor the beauty of majestic nature on the Terchovský train which is in operation throughout the year as given in the current timetable. The train set comprises of two cars with the capacity of 56 persons. The train is equipped by windows which protect visitor from getting wet in the event of rainy weather. Veľký Kriváň (1 708.7 m a.s.l.) is the highest mountain of the Mala Fatra Mountains. It sits on the main ridge of the Kriváň part of Mala Fatra which bears his name. This meadowy mountain with a peak above the upper limit of mountain pine growth is an excellent scenic points with a panoramic view. It neighbors with the mountains of Pekelník (1,609 m a.s.l.) and Chleb (1 645.6 m a.s.l.) and are separated by two mountain saddles, namely Bublen (1,610 m a.s.l.) and Snilovské saddle (1524 m a.s.l.). The southern, eastern and western slopes are susceptible to avalanches.
Small Rozsutec (1 343.5 m a.s.l.) is located in the eastern part of the Krivánska Malá Fatra mountains. It is characteristic by its rock spirelets which tower 750 meters above the steep limestone cliffs of the gorge of Biely potok (the White Creek). From the peak, which is a part of the nature reserve Rozsutec there is a panoramic view of the neighboring Veľký Rozsutec (Big Rozsutec) as well as eastern parts of the northern side of the massif. Rare calcicole flora grows in the surrounding area.
Big Rozsutec (1 609.7 m a.s.l.), a mountain in the Krivánska Mala Fatra, is considered one of the most beautiful in Slovakia. It is situated in the heart of the National Park Malá Fatra and became a symbol of this mountain range. In the past it was rumored to have a gold treasure near the summit stashed by Jánošík himself. Rozsutec dominates the whole area, especially its 160 meter high west flank. It has one of the richest botanic ecosystem in the country. Many endemic species can be found it the area.
Jánošíkove diery or only Diery (Holes) is a system of gorges and canyons in the Krivanska Mala Fatra. It is located in the NNR Rozsutec. It consists of three parts: Dolné diery, Nové diery a Horné diery. They were shaped by the Dierový. There are more than 20 waterfall in the locality and together they form Vodopády Dierového potoka (Waterfall of the Dierový stream). Unusual rock formations with their specific climate have become a home to several species of plants and animals.
Tiesňavy is a national nature reserve and a valley in the Mala Fatra Mountains. It forms an impressive entrance to the Vrátna valley and leads along the narrow canyon of the river Varinka with several waterfalls.
